Varustaa was founded by Allen and Michelle Tedder in May of 2009. It was a dream of ours to create an organization whose purpose was to help others by providing for their needs and equipping them to carry out their destiny.
In addition to Varustaa, Allen, a graphic designer and photographer, also started Design Prophets, a full service advertising and marketing firm in Central Florida. While he has a passion for design and technology, there is nothing on this planet he would rather be doing than spending time with his family.
Michelle is a gifted administrator and has a natural ability to find order amongst the chaos. While she has proven herself as a successful Regional Manager in the retail arena and a valuable asset as both an Executive Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator in the church world, her finest work has been achieved as a dedicated, loving and hard working mother and home school teacher to our children.
Gabbi, age 11, and Rowan, age 8, have always had a big heart for missions. They consistently find new ways to give to their friends, their community and to impoverished children around the world. At their young ages, both children have given their time to serve in their church, at the local food bank, distributing food and supplies with Samaritan's Purse, distributing school supplies to needy children, and financially supporting multiple missions organizations on a regular basis, out of their own allowances.
We took our first mission trip as a family, in December of 2008 and knew instantly that it would become a permanent fixture in our lives. We began praying about how we could make this a reality, and door after door has begun to open up for us, allowing us to step into our destiny. It's pretty amazing how quickly things can happen when you are open and begin to take steps in the right direction.
Allen had the opportunity to participate in a mission trip to El Salvador in April of 2009, at which time the puzzle pieces began to fall into place and Varustaa was born. From preparing for our first summer-long mission trip, to developing a web site that will bring non-profit organizations from around the world together with volunteers and corporate sponsors, we are very excited about the road ahead.
